Cantina di Bolzano was established in 1908 when 30 farmers founded a winemaking cooperative in the Gries district with the common goal of vinifying and marketing the native Trentino grape varieties Lagrein and Santa Maddalena. Currently, the cooperative, located in the municipality of San Maurizio, is composed of 224 families united by common values of pleasure, passion, and variety. The Bolzano area is morphologically perfect for viticulture, as it is situated within a large sunny basin surrounded by steep slopes. The vineyards are planted on well-ventilated alluvial soils composed of light porphyritic quartz soils on the slopes of Renon.
Cantina di Bolzano's vineyards cover approximately 340 hectares, spread across more than 10 different municipalities, and are located at an altitude ranging from 200 to 1,000 meters above sea level. The vast expanse of the territory and the location in different geographical areas ensure the encounter and blending of landscapes and cultures. Each plot has the pedoclimatic characteristics suitable for a specific grape variety: in the higher areas, the focus is on cultivating Sauvignon and Gewürztraminer, while descending towards the valley, you can find Santa Maddalena, Cabernet, and Merlot, eventually reaching Lagrein. Just as in the vineyards, the winery also prefers a sustainable and nature-respecting approach in the cellar.
Cantina di Bolzano's production is extensive and comprehensive, including internationally recognized wines characterized by a strong regional imprint that aims to enhance the Alto Adige territory and tradition. You can enjoy both vibrant, fresh, and fruity white wines and complex, expansive, and elegant reds. The skilled hands working on these grapes ensure attention and passion in every step, from the land to the final label, with maximum commitment at every stage. Now all that's left is for you to have fun and experiment, to discover a territory known for its elegance and rigor, accompanied by love and dedication to the land.
