The history of the Ruggeri winery is deeply rooted in the winemaking tradition of the Valdobbiadene area. The story begins in the second half of the 19th century with Eliseo Bisol, the ancestor who owned a small winery in Santo Stefano, in the Treviso area: the toponym "Case Bisoi," or the houses of the Bisol family, is actually traced on some contemporary maps regarding the center of Cartizze. His son Luigi, who figures as one of the area's first winemakers, in the wake of his father's activity built his own winery in Montebelluna, on the other side of the Piave valley. It would then come to 1950, when Giustino Bisol, faithful to family tradition, decided to found a new company together with his cousin Luciano, choosing his surname as the trademark for the joint venture. Ruggeri immediately distinguished itself within the Valdobbiadene area as one of the rare wineries dedicated to the production of sparkling wine, led by two young visionaries who bet on refermentations in autoclaves, according to the Martinotti method. Their work now finds natural continuity in the work of Giustino's son and granddaughter, Paolo and Isabella, the new family generation employed at the winery. In 2017 Ruggeri became part of the Rotkäppchen-Mumm group, a choice that consolidates its international distribution potential.

Ruggeri owns a vineyard extension of 32 hectares, spread over the beautiful hills of the Valdobbiadene area and within the Cartizze cru. The far-sightedness of Giustino Bisol and Luciano Ruggeri's activity can also be read in the importance they attributed to the territory, as well as to the care of the vineyards and winemaking: in fact, they had the idea of harvesting grapes from winegrowers from different areas, with plots characterized by different exposures, altitudes, microclimates and soils. The selection of the contributors, who have now exceeded a hundred and are in many cases the children or grandchildren of the first ones who began their collaboration with the winery, is no less careful than the selection of the grapes, so that there is always certainty about the quality of the fruit that reaches the winery. The varieties grown are the classic ones of the appellation, starting with Glera, of which a heritage of about 2,500 nearly 100-year-old plants is preserved.

The Ruggeri winery perseveres in its desire to increase the perception around Prosecco, highlighting its evolutionary capabilities: rests on yeasts continue well beyond 3 months and are followed by long aging in the bottle, before release. The "Vecchie Viti" label is the flagship of this work, probably the first sparkling wine in its category made from such old vines.

"Avere una gamma di vini ampia e non sbagliare un colpo significa dimostrare un notevole livello di professionalità"
