The Maison Pol Roger, thanks to its 170 years of history and a range of labels of exceptional quality, is among the most quoted and well-known in the world. Its headquarters, not surprisingly, are located in Épernay, considered to be the capital of Champagne. It all started back in 1849, when Pol Roger began selling the first bottles. The small family business developed rapidly and moved from its home village of Aÿ to Épernay in 1851. Right from the start, the Maison specialised in the production of Brut Champagne, a type particularly favoured by the English who were accustomed to a dry taste. This prodigious success was put at risk in 1900, when part of the cellars suffered serious damage from a building collapse. Many bottles in the ageing cellars and many barrels with precious reserve wines were lost.

However, the Maison recovered quickly, but soon had to face the crisis caused by the First World War, then Prohibition and the Wall Street Crash and finally the Second World War. In the post-war period, the Maison Pol Roger rose to new life, bolstered in part by the preference for its Champagnes expressed by Winston Churchill, who gave his name to the famous cuvée born in 1975. Since 2018, the Maison has been headed by Damien Cambres, who continues the activity with the utmost respect for a tradition that has made the brand famous throughout the world. Thanks to a savoir-faire handed down from generation to generation and the highest quality grapes, sourced from the finest areas of Champagne, Pol Roger continues to be a symbol of elegance and class.

Pol Roger Champagnes are known for their refinement and purity, which is the result of long experience and very strict production protocols. Only the best grapes, carefully selected in the vineyard and then in the cellar, are used to make the base wines, which are vinified by individual parcel and blended into cuvées only after careful tasting. The long ageing on the lees and the traditional use of very low dosages allow the wines to bring to the fore with transparency the characteristics of an extraordinary terroir. This gives rise to labels that have become true icons of the Appellation, sought after by the most demanding enthusiasts.
