In the town of Mezzane di Sotto, in the province of Verona, the family-run Camerani winery stands out for its pure and sustainable production vision. After picking up the winemaking legacy from her parents in 1986, Marinella Camerani immediately decided to give a new approach to her vineyards, switching from the pergola training form to guyot so as to obtain lower yields compensated, however, by a higher quality of the fruit. In 2002, the meeting with Nicolas Joly, one of the pioneers of biodynamic viticulture in the world, brought Marinella strongly closer to this holistic production philosophy that conceives the soil, the environment and the organisms that populate it as a single system in balance.
Marinella Camerani cultivates nearly 20 hectares under certified organic viticulture, adopting biodynamic farming practices. Of these, 5 hectares are reserved for the parallel Adalia winery. In general, the plants benefit from the mild and temperate climate, the average altitude of about 400 meters above sea level and the whitish soil particularly rich in limestone. The agronomic aspect involves the preservation of nature and its rhythms, with the total exclusion of synthetic chemicals and non-invasive tillage that respects the timing and needs of the vines. The same minimalist approach is implemented in the winery, with strictly spontaneous fermentations and no use of oenological aids.
As mentioned, in addition to Corte Sant'Alda, since 2009 Marinella Camerani has been running in parallel the Adalia winery, whose name comes from Adalia Bipunctata, a ladybug with two black spots on its wings also depicted in the company logo. Flanking these production realities is Podere Castagnè, an agritourism winery in Mezzane di Sotto that, in addition to hospitality, offers local wines. The production of Camerani wineries includes Veronese excellence, such as Amarone della Valpolicella, Recioto della Valpolicella, Valpolicella Ripasso and Soave. Interpretations with a strong and decisive character, a reflection of Marinella's authentic personality.
