Grosjean's Torrette is part of the classic line of wines from the Aosta Valley winery and offers a young and fresh interpretation of this traditional wine. Its territorial distinctiveness, as a splendid mountain red, is based on the use of only grapes from varieties historically present in the valley and on a simple vinification in steel, which allows to preserve all the fragrance of the fruit and its frank expressive immediacy. It is a light red, ideal to enjoy throughout a meal or to pair with legume soups, pasta dishes with ragout sauces or white meats.
Torrette by Grosjean comes from a traditional blend of grapes from native Valdostan vines, such as Petit Rouge, Fumin, Cornalin and others, from a number of parcels located in the communal territories of Quart and Saint-Christophe at an altitude between 650 and 700 meters above sea level. The vineyards enjoy a sunny south and south-west facing exposure and have been planted on sandy, shallow soils characterized by steep slopes. In the countryside, the rules of organic farming regulations are applied, with no use of herbicides, fertilizers or chemical treatments, with the utmost respect for an unspoiled alpine environment. The grapes are harvested during October and are fermented at a controlled temperature of 28/30 °C, with a maceration period on the skins of about ten days. Before bottling, the wine matures for several months in steel tanks.
Grosjean's Torrette red is the classic version of the traditional wine of the Aosta Valley, a wine perfect for the everyday glass, always accompanying meals for its immediate and direct drinking pleasure and convivial character. It's dark ruby red in color with brilliant reflections. On the nose it is characterized by a bouquet expressing delicate floral scents, aromas of small berries, cherry and fragrant red fruit, hints of spice and wild herbs of the alpine flora. The palate is medium-bodied, with fruity aromas, pleasantly juicy and harmonious, accompanied by fine tannins. The finish is of good flavor persistence, with a return on fruity sensations.
