Varvaglione's Primitivo del Salento '12 e Mezzo' is produced by a historic Salento winery, a light version of one of the most traditional reds of the south. The nose has hints of ripe red fruits, sweet spices such as cinnamon and a slight undertone of vanilla and cocoa. The sip is soft, enveloping and persistent, with well-integrated tannins that provide good structure. A wine with a drinkable soul, it is perfect with intense pasta dishes
Deep, dark red
Very tannic but smooth and soft, warm and with good juice
Intense hints of dark fruits such as plum and morello cherry, slightly tertiary finish with cocoa and vanilla
