Latour's Pouilly Fuissé is a white wine with intense, floral aromas and a broad, fresh, complex and mineral personality. A delicate but rich expression of Burgundy Chardonnay, aged for at least 8 months in steel
Louis Latour's Pouilly Fuissé is a pure Chardonnay made in the beautiful Mâconnais region, located in the southern part of Burgundy. It is a land especially suited for great whites, where Chardonnay expresses itself with an aromatically ripe, fresh and mineral profile. Aged only in steel, it brings to the fore especially the refined floral and fruity notes of the varietal and the mineral characteristics of the terroir.
Pouilly Fuissé wine is part of the wide range of labels that Louis Latour produces in Burgundy. The Domaine was founded in the late 1700s and still represents one of the area's most important estates and a qualitative benchmark for the region's wines. The property includes as many as 28 hectares classified as Grand Cru of the Côte-d'Or and another 30 hectares in other prestigious areas. The Pouilly-Fuissé Appellation is located in the heart of the wonderful vineyard landscape of the Mâconnais, an area stretching some 30 kilometres between Sennecey-le-Grand et Saint-Vérand, bordered by the Grosne valley to the west and the Saône valley to the east. The favourable climate and soils composed of limestone, clay, and silt have for centuries proved perfect for Chardonnay, which occupies more than 80 percent of the vineyard, giving rich, ripe wines with a strong territorial character. The vines have an average age of about 30 years and produce with low yields of about 45 hectoliters per hectare. After manual harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed, and the must is fermented at a controlled temperature. The wine completely undergoes malolactic fermentation and matures for 8-10 months in stainless steel tanks before being bottled.
The white Pouilly Fuissé from the famous Domaine Louis Latour is a Burgundy Chardonnay that expresses with great fidelity the characteristics of the Mâconnais terroir. It shows a straw-yellow colour with slight greenish highlights. The olfactory profile opens on scents of white flowers, balsamic and mentholated sensations, ripe fruity aromas and hints of flint. The sip is rich and satisfying, of beautiful length and aromatic persistence, with a fresh, savoury and mineral finish.
