The Pinot Nero from the Tenuta di Caseo – Tommasi winery is a Pavesian interpretation of Pinot Nero, a grape variety that has found an ideal environment in the Oltrepò region to produce high-quality expressions, whether sparkling wines or still red wines like this soft and balanced Pinot Nero. In the production of its wines, Tenuta di Caseo, owned by the Tommasi family, adopts a sustainable approach across the board: from the vineyard, where integrated pest management principles are applied, to packaging, which uses recycled or FSC-certified materials, and through the vinification process, where there is rational use of water and energy resources, avoiding any waste.
Tenuta di Caseo – Tommasi Pinot Nero is an expression of the eponymous black grape variety cultivated in hillside vineyards with southern and southwestern exposure, planted on clay soils characterized by a high presence of active limestone. In the winery, the grapes undergo a pre-fermentation maceration in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 24°C, followed by alcoholic fermentation in 35-hectoliter second-use oak barrels, the same containers where the wine matures for about a year until final bottling.
The color of the Pinot Nero from Tenuta di Caseo – Tommasi is bright ruby red with garnet reflections. The rich olfactory spectrum shows hints of wild berries, such as blackberry and black currant, and notes of dried violet petals, enriched by spicy nuances of green pepper and licorice. On the palate, it is enveloping and balanced, fresh and flavorful, with a velvety tannic texture accompanied by a persistent fruity and spicy finish, offering excellent taste-olfactory correspondence.
