The Nebbiolo Langhe Drink Wines Not Labels is a rich and juicy red wine, a genuine expression of Langa's greatest grape variety. On the nose it expresses the typical varietal notes of the grape variety, with hints of blueberry, raspberry, violet and dog rose, while on the palate the sweetness of the fruit and the softness of the tannin lead the way to a fresh finish, with lovely acidity. The Langhe Nebbiolo from the Drink Wines Not Labels project is an expression of the most famous grape variety from the Langhe region, striking for its ability to combine complexity and smoothness. Behind the young venture Drink Wines Not Labels, created in 2019, lies all the enthusiasm and passion of Alessandro Salvano, a graduate oenologist from the school of Alba who, after a series of experiences in various wineries in Piedmont, decided to start his own business, launching this project with the collaboration of his uncle Giorgio Sobrero, an established producer operating in the area of Montelupo Albese, near the border with the Barolo-producing municipality of Serralunga d'Alba. The provocative name Drink Wines Not Labels precisely represents a reference to the fact that due to a matter of a few meters, vineyards located on the border cannot boast the prestigious "Barolo" appellation, thus urging consumers to taste the wines without being influenced by brand labels.
Drink Wines Not Labels Langhe Nebbiolo is a 100% Nebbiolo from vines cultivated without the use of desiccants and chemical herbicides. Harvesting is done by hand and is followed by red winemaking with 100% whole clusters and spontaneous alcoholic fermentation of the must accompanied by about 10 days of maceration on the skins in stainless steel tanks. In the same type of wine vessels, complete malolactic fermentation and aging for several months take place before the final bottling, carried out without prior clarification or filtration.
The Langhe Nebbiolo from Drink Wines Not Labels has a bright ruby red color. The olfactory range expresses fruity and floral aromas of blueberry, cherry, raspberry, and violet, accompanied by a slight earthy mineral reminiscence. The richness on the palate is well balanced by juicy tannins and lively freshness, with fruity and floral sensations accompanying the long persistence.
