Lugana Superiore Riserva 'Antico Vigneto' Corte Anna 2020

Lugana Superiore 'Antico Vigneto' from the Corte Anna winery reality represents a full and wide expression of this lower Garda appellation. Lugana is an interregional DOC in that the production area straddles two regions: Lombardy and Veneto. The varietal fulcrum of the appellation is Trebbiano di Lugana, locally called Turbiana and also known as Trebbiano di Soave, a grape variety that has nothing to do with the vast Trebbiani family being a biotype of Verdicchio widespread in Veneto and the province of Brescia. Through the 'Antico Vigneto' label, Corte Anna intends to enhance this variety, starting from nearly 100-year-old vines.

Corte Anna Lugana Superiore 'Antico Vigneto' is a 100% Trebbiano di Lugana from vines over 80 years old planted on predominantly clayey soils within the municipality of Sirmione. Harvesting takes place late in October, and the grapes are then subjected to a soft pressing, with the resulting must being piped into stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation. Maturation of 18 months also takes place in stainless steel and is carried out on the fine lees before bottling and further resting for at least 6 months in glass prior to release.

To the eye, Lugana Superiore 'Antico Vigneto' from the Lombard winery Corte Anna expresses a bright straw yellow hue. The nose evokes pleasant fruity aromas of grapefruit, pear, apricot and apple that blend with a successful floral finish. Delicate yet intense on the palate, balanced between pleasant smoothness and a taut fresh-sappy component. This gastronomic Lugana has an excellent ageing capacity, which can be paired with creamy risottos or main courses of freshwater and saltwater fish.
