The red Lacrima di Morro d'Alba Superiore is one of the best-known regional wines with very ancient roots. In fact, it is said that already Frederick Barbarossa, who settled in the castle of Morro d'Alba during the siege of Ancona, was a great admirer of it. On the strength of this history, Velenosi, a winery that offers a brilliant overview of wines from the Marche region, makes a version with an elegant and full-bodied structure where the scents of berries dominate the nose. A wine of great personality and refinement, which strikes and stuns, leaving in memory an unforgettable sip.
Lacrima di Morro d'Alba Superiore is made by the Velenosi winery from the grapes of the same name, grown in vineyards included within the municipality of San Marcello, about 100-150 meters above sea level. We are within a territory of a predominantly clay matrix, where the vines grow with the spurred cordon system. Usually harvested in September, the bunches vinify traditionally, remaining on the skins for 20 days and fermenting in steel containers at a controlled temperature of about 20 degrees. Maturation takes place in steel, where the wine remains to mature for a few months before being bottled and marketed.
This Lacrima di Morro d'Alba Superiore wine announces itself to the eye with a ruby red colour, characterized by reflections tending to purple. The nose reveals deep and intense aromas, where small forest fruits alternate with more floral notes, dominated by dog rose and violet. It is full-bodied, rounded and swaddling on the palate, with a sip in perfect taste-olfactory balance. A great label signed Velenosi, reaching truly important qualitative heights.
