The Velenosi winery ranks among the wine excellences of the Marche region thanks to its ability to combine large numbers and fine quality. It all began in Ascoli Piceno in 1984, when young Ercole and Angela Velenosi founded the estate moved by the desire of breathing new life into the area's oenology by combining traditional craftsmanship and modern technology. In 2005 the two entrepreneurs were joined by the expertise and experience of Paolo Garbini, and over the years the winery has grown significantly in volume. Today Velenosi includes four wineries located in the towns of Ascoli Piceno, Castorano, Monsampolo del Tronto and Castel di Lama, as well as vineyards located in Jesi and the province of Teramo. This extraordinary and heterogeneous viticultural heritage allows the winery to offer many different interpretations of these areas.
The nearly 150 hectares of vineyards of the Velenosi winery are therefore scattered in different territories, strongly differentiated by soil and climate characteristics. Similarly, the grape varieties grown are numerous, mostly indigenous to the areas where they are grown, such as Montepulciano and Sangiovese in Piceno, Lacrima Nera in Morro d'Alba, Passerina and Pecorino in Offida and Verdicchio in Jesi. However, there is no shortage of international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Many of the vineyards are certified organic, with the ones remaining in conversion, a testament to the Velenosi family's attention to sustainability.
Velenosi is the creator of a broad selection that embraces numerous appellations, expressing the great quality of Marche. Today the winery's production consists of about 2,500,000 bottles released annually and exported to more than 50 countries around the world, making the estate a great representative for Marche all over the world. The top labels include Rosso Piceno Superiore 'Roggio del Filare' and Offida Rosso 'Ludi,' red wines of majestic structure and complexity. Also worth mentioning is Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 'Verso Sera,' proof of the Velenosi family's exceptional ability to interpret this popular Abruzzo appellation.
