Champagne Brut Royale Réserve is the great classic of the Maison Philipponat, the bubbly that embodies the style and prestige of the Maison. As the name "Royale Réserve" suggests, it is proposed as a tribute of the ancient traditions of the Philipponnat family, already historically vineyard owners, merchants and winemakers, among the main suppliers of Louis XIV and magistrates of the city of Ay. A Champagne formerly prized by Europe's most prestigious courts.
Champagne Brut Royale Réserve is made from grapes from the best vineyards of the Grand and Premier Cru vineyards in the beating heart of Champagne. This traditional blend consists mostly of Pinot Noir (65%) to which are added Chardonnay (30%) and Pinot Meunier (5%). The structure of this Champagne is determined by the addition to the cuvée of at least 20 percent of reserve wines, carefully kept in chalk cellars and managed using the Solera method, which involves aging in wooden barrels for several years. Once bottled, the wine re-ferments in the bottle according to the Champenoise Method and then rests on the lees for about three years. Only this long rest will allow this bubbly to release evolved and ripe scents on the nose, combined with a masterful and powerful structure on the palate.
Champagne Royale Brut Réserve from the historic and prestigious maison Philipponnat is distinguished by its impeccable balance of structure, persistence and vinosity. It comes in a brilliant golden hue with amber reflections, made even more elegant by a very fine-grained and persistent mousse. The nose exudes floral and lightly toasted scents, along with nuances of red fruits, citrus and honey. The sip is delicately vinous, ample and full-bodied, with fruity aromas and a long finish that trails off light notes of cookie and fragrant bread. A champagne of a high standard, which long aging has made a masterpiece.
