CAMPOROMANO LA STOPPA 2012 DESCRIPTION

The Camporomano La Stoppa is a pure Barbera produced by one of the most interesting wineries in the Colli Piacentini area. The Piedmontese grape is widespread in the hilly pre-Apennine region, from Monferrato to Piacenza, and has adapted well thanks to the beautiful sunny exposures and suitable soils. This label is crafted only in the best vintages, promoting excellent grape ripening with particularly rich and intense aromatic profiles. The wine perfectly expresses the exuberant character of Barbera, its typical fruity fragrance, and its clear and lively freshness.
The red Camporomano from the La Stoppa winery in Piacenza results from careful and environmentally respectful work in the vineyard. The estate is managed according to organic farming principles, with treatments using only copper and sulfur, grass-covered rows, and no use of chemical substances. The Barbera vines, ranging from 20 to 45 years old, are cultivated on soils composed of silt and clay, particularly suitable for red grape varieties. After manual harvesting, the grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation using only indigenous yeasts in stainless steel or concrete tanks, with a 40-day skin maceration. The wine matures in used French oak barriques and large 40-hectoliter wooden barrels and is bottled without filtration and without the addition of sulfur, preserving the natural integrity of the wine.
La Stoppa's Camporomano is a red wine with a typically territorial character, a transparent expression of the Colli Piacentini terroir and one of the symbolic grape varieties of the area. The glass presents a lively ruby-red colour with slight violet reflections. Intense and rich, it releases aromas of ripe cherry, strawberry, wild blackberry, red-fleshed plum, floral nuances of violet and peony, hints of underbrush, and delicate spicy sensations. With good structure, it possesses a mature and fine tannic texture and broad, juicy, and satisfying fruity flavours, leading towards a fruity and very fresh finish.
