'CALA N° 2' TINEDO 2019 DESCRIPTION

Tinedo's Cala N.2 is an intense and concentrated organic Spanish wine, an indigenous expression of the La Mancha region, in particular of that plateau located at an altitude of 700 metres known as Sierra de Alcaraz. This is the most important label produced by the Alvarez-Arenas family of winemakers, owners of the winery, who have been cultivating vineyards in this area since 1742. Today, the descendants of this family, extremely sensitive to the issue of environmental sustainability, cultivate their vineyards organically, advocating clean and reasoned viticulture.

Cala N.2 is made from two of Spain's most typical red grape varieties, Tempranillo and Graciano, to which small percentages of Cabernet Sauvignon are added to give structure, elegance and depth. In the winery, only part of the grapes are destemmed after a short cold maceration, and the must is left to ferment for about 7 days in large cement vats or open steel vats. At the end of alcoholic fermentation, the contact between the skins and the must is prolonged for a further 14 days to obtain an important aromatic extraction. Malolactic fermentation takes place in cement vats and old American and French barriques, where the wine matures for 18 months.

The Tinedo Cala N.2 is very representative of the winery's style, played mainly on explosive red fruit notes and freshness, but this time combined in terms of structure and depth. The result is very convincing and offered at an excellent price/quality ratio. It is characterised by an intense and articulate bouquet, rich in hints of flowers and red fruit, crossed by a fine complexity of sweet spices such as tobacco, liquorice and cloves. On the palate, it is rich, intense, warm and deep, supported by a fruity freshness and good tannins. We recommend pairing it with grilled meats and game or with noble cold cuts such as the famous Jamòn ibérico.
