The Aglianico del Vulture "Il Sigillo" is made from late-harvested grapes. Prolonged maceration for 30 days and aging in oak barrels for 24 months contribute to sweet, deep notes and an elegant, smooth taste with slight residual sugar. The modern interpretation of an ancient technique that makes this Aglianico almost similar to an Amarone

The Seal of Cantine del Notaio is the traditional soul of Aglianico del Vulture, offered in a modern guise. It embodies all the passion and creativity of the Giuratrabocchetti family and also tells of its belonging to the territory, to that wonderful Basilicata, still uncontaminated and wild, able to offer spectacular landscapes and products. With "Il Sigillo", Cantine del Notaio wishes to express the power and character of Basilicata and of the vine in deep connection with its environment. Respect for the latter is a must for the winery, located in Rionero in Vulture, province of Potenza. They have chosen to adopt cultivation practices that look organic and wink at the scientific approach of biodynamics, with the intention of safeguarding the land and enhancing the fruit. "Il Sigillo" is a concentrated and intense Aglianico, entirely akin to that warm and overwhelming welcome that makes Basilicata a very special place.
"Il Sigillo" is composed of 100% Aglianico. The grapes are left to over-ripen, or even wither, on the vine. Once the desired degree of drying is reached, the bunches are harvested by hand. The intention is to create an Aglianico following the style of the famous Amarone della Valpolicella, a wine of power and smoothness. The maceration and fermentation phase, followed by ageing in natural volcanic tuff caves, inside chars and French oak tonneaux for a period of 24 months. Another 24 months in the bottle complete the maturation.
Cantine del Notaio "Il Sigillo" has a very bright garnet red colour. The aroma is as pleasant as it is fascinating: wild and jammy fruit, candied citrus, chocolate, a spice of pepper and much more. One could go on and on, expanding the description with each rotation of the glass. The sip is soft and very structured, with tannins tamed by long maturation. Well-balanced in its parts, it leaves a memory of itself in a liquorice finish. The synthesis of a territory and a grape variety, the seal del Vulture.
