The Ottaviano Lambruschi winery is located in Castelnuovo Magra, in the province of La Spezia. It represents one of the best excellences of this fascinating territory located on the border between Eastern Liguria and Tuscany. The estate was created in the 1970s, on the initiative of Ottaviano Lambruschi, who decided to change his life, leaving his hard work in the marble quarries of Carrara, to devote himself to viticulture. The property began with the initial purchase of a couple of hectares of forest in Costa Marina, a hamlet in the municipality of Castelnuovo Magra. Over the course of a few years, Ottaviano Lambruschi managed to convert the forest into a vineyard and begin working it with great passion and care. From the very first vintages, his wines were distinguished by a forthright and fragrant profile, the result of careful craftsmanship.
The Castelnuovo Magra area is particularly suited for viticulture, thanks to a privileged geographical location. It lies, in fact, between Liguria and Tuscany, in a border area that has been strategically and productively important for millennia. The ancient Roman port of Luni, was an important port in northern Italy, and the region was already winegrowing at the time, as was the custom of Roman colonization. The climate is particularly mild and sunny, protected by the mountains from disturbances coming down from the north and northeast and mitigated by breezes from the Ligurian Sea. The nearby presence of the mountains, also ensures significant temperature swings between sunny days and cold nights, favoring the development of particularly rich aromatic kits.
During the 1980s, son Fabio, after completing his studies in agriculture, joined his father in working in the vineyard and cellar, bringing a breath of innovation that made production processes more accurate, but without losing the winery's typical artisanal trait. Modern technologies, in fact, have been put at the service of tradition to try, not to surpass or distort it, but to interpret it in the best possible way. The innovations in the winery have also been followed by important acquisitions of valuable vineyards, also in the Castelnuovo di Magra area, which have enriched the vineyard park, making it possible to increase production without changing the quality level of the wines, which continues to be very high.
"Senza stravolgere in nulla la genuinità e la verità contadina del lavoro del padre, Fabio ha portato una pulizia e uno stile nella vinificazione e nell’affinamento non consentendo alla tecnica di essere nulla di più che uno strumento e una metodologia di lavoro e producendo, anno dopo anno, vini bianchi che si collocano non solo al vertice della Doc Colli di Luni, ma in assoluto tra i migliori bianchi italiani"
