The Single Malt Whisky Glen Ord Artist Collective 9 Years Old is a Scotch whisky with a silky, lingering taste produced in the Highlands by the Glen Ord distillery. This distillery was founded as far back as 1838 as Glen Oran and took its present name about a century later in 1923. It is one of only two distilleries in Scotland that malt its own barley exclusively, using drummers installed in 1968. Glen Ord collaborates with the French brand La Maison du Whisky in the Artist Collective project, which aims to offer fine expressions of the different whisky-producing regions in Scotland. In addition, La Maison du Whisky called in contemporary artists from different backgrounds to create the label illustrations, each bringing their own personal touch.
Glen Ord Artist Collective Single Malt 9 Years Old Whisky originates from only Scottish barley grown and processed in the Highlands. After harvesting, the barley grains are subjected to the malting process, which is done by steeping the grain in water to promote sprouting and thus the breakdown of the starch into simple sugars. At this point the yeasts can operate the alcoholic fermentation and then the fermented product is distilled in discontinuous stills at the Glen Ord distillery. The subsequent ageing phase lasts for 9 years and takes place in oak casks previously used for Bourbon.
Glen Ord Single Malt Scotch Whisky 9 Years Old Artist Collective is golden yellow in colour with amber highlights. Aromas of vanilla and sweet spices combine with sensations of herbs and mint, while the taste reveals remarkable intensity and smoothness, with a lingering velvety progression.
