"Maizieres Hautes" Vosne Romanée Vieilles Vignes by Domaine Bruno Clavelier is a prestigious interpretation, which is made from a careful selection of grapes from a prized parcel with vines over 65 years old, located near the hamlet of Vosne Romanée, close to the Premier Cru Les Suchots. The vineyard is planted with a high density of vines per hectare and is managed under biodynamic agriculture, with inter-row planting, so as to favour biodiversity and the natural fertility of the soil. The estate is certified organic (Ecocert). The land is worked manually, and green harvesting is practised to reduce yields to a few bunches per plant and thus guarantee excellent grape quality. At the end of manual harvesting, the grapes are sent to vinification, which takes place with approximately 30% whole bunches. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts and maturation lasts 18 months, in fine-grained French oak barrels from Tronçais, Allier, with 30% new wood. The wines are bottled without clarification or filtration and with a very low use of sulphites.
Domaine Bruno Clavelier's Pinot Noir Vosne Romanée Vieilles Vignes "Maizieres Hautes" is a label with an intense character and aromatically rich, thanks to the grapes from old vineyards that always guarantee concentration and depth of flavour. To the eye, it is a luminous ruby red colour. The olfactory picture is elegant, with aromas of small berries, hints of medicinal herbs and delicate spicy notes. Of medium structure, it has a very fine tannic texture and a complex and multifaceted aromatic spectrum, which accompanies a lingering finish of great taste balance. A great wine for connoisseurs.
