"Nebbia" is Icona Spirits' Local Vermouth, a spicy Nebbiolo-based wine characterized by the infusion of rhubarb and mugwort. The sip is well balanced between dry and sweet, the palate is smooth thanks to the herbs infusion, and a pleasant spicy streak strikes the nose. A perfect Vermouth to add to a Negroni or a Boulevardier, or drunk as an aperitif with a splash of seltzer
The young Brescian company Icona Spirits introduced 'Nebbia' Local Vermouth, a unique flavoured red wine that is, to date, the first Nebbiolo-based Vermouth on the Italian market, hence the name 'Nebbia'. The Brescian startup Icona Spirits were founded by Francesco Temporin and Giovanni Toriani, who, while waiting to start their own distillery, market products made on their own exclusive recipes by working side by side with Italian distilleries that work only with the highest quality raw materials thus enhancing local excellence and Made in Italy.
Icona Spirits' Vermouth Locale 'Nebbia' was produced by Opificio il Reale in Chieri, in the province of Turin, according to an exclusive recipe by Icona Spirits and in full compliance with the "Disciplinare del Vermouth di Torino," starting from a base of Nebbiolo wine flavoured with artemisia, rhubarb and typical bittering spices and herbs, without the addition of any colouring. The "Disciplinare del Vermouth di Torino" was signed on March 22, 2017, after years of work, to protect this historic flavoured wine and enhance the Piedmontese Vermouth whose birth can be attributed to Antonio Benedetto Carpano, a distiller from Turin who lived at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.
The 'Nebbia' Icona Spirits Vermut Locale presents itself with a ruby-hued brown hue. Heady balsamic and spicy hints of herbs, rhubarb and cinchona describe the nose, associated with fresh citrus sensations of blood orange and bergamot. The taste is smooth and well-balanced, endowed with a perfect balance between sweetness and bitter components. The same producer recommends enjoying Vermut Locale 'Nebbia' on its own with ice and soda or employing it in the preparation of delicious cocktails such as the Negroni and the Manhattan.
