Donato Angiuli's Verdeca is a classic and typical varietal expression of this grape variety native to Puglia. A white with a fresh and pleasantly immediate character, it has its strength precisely in its expressive simplicity, which makes it particularly pleasant and ductile at the table. Donato Angiuli's estate is located in the heart of the production area of Gioia del Colle, an area particularly suited to vines. The warm, breezy climate, good temperature ranges and calcareous soils provide the best conditions for quality viticulture geared to the production of elegant wines that make good use of the area's main native grape varieties.
Verdeca vineyards are located in the countryside of the municipality of Cisternino. They are cultivated on limestone-clay soils with the traditional marquee training system and a density of 2,000 plants per hectare. A method that keeps the clusters out of the heat of the sun during the hottest hours of the day, ensuring slow ripening and good organoleptic balance of the grapes. Manual harvesting usually takes place towards the end of September, scrupulously following the ripening curves of the clusters. After a criomaceration of the grapes lasting 48 hours, they are crushed with a destemmer and then fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. To keep the delicate varietal aromas and lively freshness intact, the Verdeca is refined in stainless steel for several months and then bottled.
