The Torgiano Rosso "Rubesco" by Lungarotti is a red wine with great territorial expression. The olfactory painting is dyed by red and black fruit and sweet and dark spices. The flavor is intense and pleasant, concentrated and deep, with a fruity finish with mineral nuances
Lungarotti's Rubesco has become an icon of Italian oenology by virtue of its elegance and consistent quality. Lungarotti, a winery located in Umbria and more precisely near Torgiano, is one of the best known in the Italian wine scene and now boasts a history of more than fifty years having been founded in 1962 by Giorgio Lungarotti. The credo has always been to merge a strong territorial link with a stylistic choice that unites tradition and innovation, also found in the choice of grape varieties, which range from indigenous varieties such as Sagrantino, Trebbiano, Grechetto and Sangiovese to international ones such as Cabernet Sauvignon. 250 hectares cultivated with passion and respect, with wines well predisposed to long aging.
The red Rubesco is perhaps the most representative wine of the Lungarotti winery, and comes from a blend of Sangiovese and Colorino with vines trained on spurred cordon. The label's name comes from the Latin verb "rubescere," which means to blush and has a convivial and joyful meaning, just like this bottle. After careful sorting of the grapes, the clusters are brought to the winery and after destemming, fermentation is started, which will take place in steel containers with 15-day maceration on the skins. Aging takes place for one year in wooden barrels and another year in the bottle after a light filtration.
The Rubesco wine reveals itself in the glass with a ruby red color of great vivacity. Complex and intriguing to the nose, it knows how to combine a fresher and fruitier aspect traceable to raspberry and wild strawberry with richer and mouth-watering notes such as cinnamon, white pepper and tobacco. Refreshing and balsamic tones emerge in the second line. The sip is elegant and persuasive, perfectly balanced between softness and a good contribution of freshness and savoriness. An everyday wine with a remarkable value for money, it even knows how to surprise with further aging in the cellar.
