Pitasso is one of the main crus produced by Claudio Mariotto out of Timorasso, a grape variety boasting great expressiveness which populated the Tortona hills since always but, until the early 90s, was in danger of disappearing because of the progressive preference of many local winemakers for varieties better renowned. The tenacious resistance opposed by some vignerons, committed to the rediscovery of this vine, has led to the current production of some of the biggest Italian whites, able to evolve over time so exemplary. Since the early years from the rebirth of Timorasso, Claudio Mariotto tried to create a range of products highly representative for every possible variation of the variety, working with old vines featuring excellent exposures, in order to obtain wines with a strong personality. Among these there's certainly Pitasso, created by Claudio Mariotto with a style that favors the most authentic expression of the variety, naturally capable of giving full-bodied wines, with a distinct minerality conferred by the clay-calcareous soils of Vho. For the last few years the majority of the guides have spent good ratings in honour to this cru and tastings of older vintages have confirmed the large potential for aging over time: now, you have the chance to dive in the beautiful and unexplored territory of Tortona hills through a taste of Pitasso!
