Sella & Mosca's Spumante Brut Metodo Classico "Oscarì" was born in Alghero in Nauraghe Maiore, a beautiful area overlooking the sea. The winery's adventure began at the end of the 19th century when two Piedmontese entrepreneurs decided to invest in 15 hectares on the island, starting to cultivate native vines. Erminio Sella and Edgardo Mosca began reclaiming the land in 1899, eliminating the layer of sandstone that was unsuitable for the lush growth of vines. The working philosophy is to enhance the territory and the authenticity of its fruits, with total respect for nature and the phases of growth and development of the plants and raw materials. The recent collaboration with Antonio Marras has increased the work and quality of the final products.
The pure Torbato grapes in Sella & Mosca's Spumante Brut Metodo Classico "Oscarì" are grown in predominantly calcareous, clayey and sandy soils with a good presence of iron for a final product with character and structure; the climate is characterised by the influence of sea breezes, resulting in hot, breezy summers and mild winters that give the grapes perfect ripeness. The average age of the vines is 23 years and in the vineyard the work carried out is oriented towards respect for the land and its intrinsic potential. Harvesting is manual; in the cellar, soft pressing and cold static decantation take place. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel and the yeasts are selected and inoculated. It re-ferments in the bottle and stays on the lees for a year.
The colour of Sella & Mosca's Spumante Brut Metodo Classico "Oscarì" is a pale yellow with brilliant reflections. The aromas are reminiscent of freshly baked bread crust, yeast, hints of ripe yellow-fleshed fruit and white flowers such as jasmine; on the palate, the perlage is fine and persistent with a creamy, enveloping and delicate entry for a pleasant final balance that entices glass after glass. It pairs perfectly with sushi and sashimi, canapés with light creams and light fried dishes; also interesting with vegetarian dishes. Perfect for toasting special family occasions or anniversaries, or celebrating important work milestones, while sipping a wine that has been researched and produced with awareness.
