The red wine "Unrouge" from the Abruzzi winery Bossanova represents those labels that we enjoy describing as "pure grape juice." It is made from only red grapes that are, however, half vinified in white; fermentation occurs spontaneously with only indigenous yeasts. The bright light red color introduces red fruit aromas and a juicy, carefree sip-you'll have a hard time not finishing it as soon as you open it!
The 'Unrouge' label of the Controguerra winery Bossanova represents an original and juicy expression, the fruit of the creativity of producers Nat Colantonio and Andrea Quaglia. Nat and Andrea met in 2018 during an evening in a pub due to mutual friendships and immediately hit it off thanks to their shared passion for music and wine. After a short time, the two started the Bossanova project from a small plot of just over one hectare planted by Andrea's grandfather in the 1970s. In addition to the traditional varieties Montepulciano and Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, Andrea and Nat grow Passerina, Montonico, Cococciola and Merlot. This label originates from only red grapes vinified partly in red and partly in white and then blended, hence the curious appellation 'Unrouge'.
Bossanova 'Unrouge' is produced from only red grapes from 20-year-old vines, cultivated according to organic and biodynamic agriculture principles. Harvesting is carried out by hand, and the grapes are then transferred to the cellar, where they are vinified partly in white and partly in red, again through spontaneous alcoholic fermentation using only indigenous yeasts. This is followed by blending, bottling and final marketing.
To the eye, Bossanova's 'Unrouge' takes on a distinctive bright light red colour. The olfactory mosaic is fresh and delicate, described by scents of red fruits that blend with soft spicy sensations. The sip is agile and juicy, fruity and drinkable, very enjoyable and with delicate tannins. It is a carefree drinking bottle, ideal with cheese boards and assorted cured meats, grilled sausages or legume soups.
