The Rosso di Montalcino di Fattoi comes from Sangiovese grapes, left to age for a few months in oak barrels. The bouquet offers us notes of small red fruits and morello cherries, while the palate is dry and persuasive, with a nice freshness and excellent persistence
Fattoi's Rosso di Montalcino comes from one of the most renowned areas in Italy for its vocation for producing expressively unparalleled red wines. The Fattoi family cultivates its land in the southern part of Montalcino, where the Ombrone and Orcia rivers meet. Ofelio Fattoi is the founder and, over time, has passed on the passion and art of quality wine production to his sons Leonardo and Lamberto. The estate is surrounded by about 70 hectares of land, 9 of which are planted with vines and 5 dedicated to olive cultivation; the remainder are unspoiled woods that benefit the overall ecosystem and wheat crops. The enthusiasm with which the different activities are approached daily is the key ingredient so that authenticity and passion are transmitted to the final customer.
Fattoi's Rosso di Montalcino vineyards rise in an ideal position for their growth since they are affected by winds from the sea that give mild temperatures in both summer and winter and ensure a constant and perfect ripening of the grapes at harvest time. The soil is composed of Pliocene sands and clays with optimal southern exposure, and the altitude is around 350 meters above sea level. The grapes are harvested manually in early October; in the cellar, alcoholic fermentation occurs in steel tanks and a short maceration on the skins between 15 and 20 days, followed by racking and draining of the pomace. It is aged briefly in barrels.
To the eye, Fattoi's Rosso di Montalcino appears bright ruby red with clear, intense reflections. The bouquet of aromas is broad and reminiscent of red berries such as strawberry, blackberry and currant with light notes of morello cherry on the finish; in the mouth, it is dry, elegant and pleasant with a final aromatic persistence that is overpowering and a persuasive drink. In pairing, it is perfect with pasta dishes dressed with elaborate meat sauces or with porcini mushrooms and local black truffles, grilled or stewed cuts of red meat; also excellent with aged cheeses such as Tuscan pecorino for a delicious end to a meal. Perfect for the family holiday table, to share the authenticity of Tuscan tradition, revisited sublimely by expert hands.
