"Riostoppa" by La Stoppa is a fullbodied and intense red wine from the Piacenza area that comes from 100-year-old vines of Merlot, Saint-Macaire and Carmenere. Aged for several months in used barriques, it flaunts notes of earth and underbrush, combined with ethereal, spicy and fruity sensations. It has a soft, structured body with great forthrightness and pleasant tannin
La Stoppa's 'Riostoppa' represents the synthesis of terroir and international grape varieties imported from Bordeaux. Although the winery's culture today is strongly focused on the valorisation of the heritage of the locati grapes, this label is a tribute to the estate's past and to the former owner Giancarlo Ageno, a lover of Bordeaux blends. The ripeness of the fruit and the use of barrique ageing give the wine a suave, soft and complex personality. It is the perfect choice for those who enjoy a harmonious and satisfying sip. It goes particularly well with grilled and roast meats or with spit-roasted game.
La Stoppa's 'Riostoppa' wine comes from the company's estate in Ancarano di Rivergaro, in the heart of the Colli Piacentini. The vineyards extend over some thirty hectares, in an area that has been devoted to viticulture for centuries. The mild climate and soils mainly composed of clay and silt, with the presence of limestone, create a perfect habitat for vines. Agronomic management follows the dictates of organic farming, in full respect of an uncontaminated habitat rich in biodiversity. The label represents a piece of the estate's history. Since the days of the old owner, before the estate was bought by the Pantaleoni family, this red wine was produced under the name of Bordeaux or Bordò. The name was not chosen at random, since the grapes, then as now, come from a vineyard composed of Merlot, Carménère and Saint-Macaire, an ancient Bordeaux variety. Fermentation takes place spontaneously thanks to the action of indigenous yeasts, with maceration on the skins for about 40 days in steel or cement vats. The wine matures for a few months in used French oak barriques and finishes its ageing in the bottle.
The 'Riostoppa' red wine from the La Stoppa winery confirms the area's vocation for the production of important labels with a typically international profile, linked to the classic models of the great wines of Bordeaux. It presents itself in the glass with an intense garnet red colour. The olfactory profile is rich and complex, with aromas of small dark berries, blueberry, wild blackberry, blackcurrant, cherry, spicy sensations and vegetal hints of undergrowth and officinal herbs. Structured and rich, it has a dense but ripe tannic texture. The sip is rich, warm and enveloping, with a harmonious finish and good taste persistence
