Riesling ‘QW’ Weingut Wolf 2020

The Riesling 'QW' by Weingut Wolf is a fresh expression of German white wines. Dennis Wolf produces wines of great vitality, closely linked to the territory. The aging takes place strictly in multiple passage barrels, to preserve the characteristic profile of the vines. The attack on the nose is shy, then explodes into hints of citrus and more evolved apricot. The palate is both velvety and full-bodied, with great freshness and intriguing smoky hints. Leave in the cellar for a few years

RIESLING ‘QW’ WEINGUT WOLF 2020 DESCRIPTION

The biodynamic estate Weingut Wolf introduces the Riesling 'QW', an interpretation of the most well-known German grape variety endowed with appreciable energy and vitality. Before taking over the reins of the family winery, winemaker Dennis Wolf had the opportunity to travel the world and accumulate experience, drawing great inspiration from French winemaking culture. Particularly important was his experience in the Roussillon region at Domaine de l'Horizon alongside Thomas Teibert, a German winemaker transplanted to France, as well as in Alsace at Domaine Ostertag, a winery that produces some of the best Rieslings in the region.

Weingut Wolf's 'QW' Riesling is an expression of the homonymous white grape variety cultivated according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture on soils with high limestone and gypsum content. Harvesting is done by hand when the grapes have reached a slightly advanced stage of ripeness, followed by spontaneous alcoholic fermentation of the must. After the fermentation process, the wine is aged for 25 months on fine lees in used oak barrels until final bottling, which occurs without any clarification or filtration.

The color of Weingut Wolf's Riesling 'QW' is intense straw yellow. On the nose, mature aromas of apricot and lemon jam are perceived, accompanied by nuances of flint, wildflowers, and beeswax. The palate is very fresh and energetic, yet delicate and silky, with good body and excellent balance. The finish is dynamic and persistent, with a strong mineral vein characteristic of Palatinate wines. Despite being delightful in its youth, thanks to the slightly late harvest that gives the wine greater softness and balance, this Riesling is able to evolve for many years in the bottle, acquiring further depth.
