Pacherhof's Riesling is an elegant, crystal-clear white wine from Alto Adige, born from vineyards located at 650 meters above sea level. It exudes hints of yellow fruit and fresh apple and on the sip reveals freshness, good intensity and excellent persistence
Riesling from the South Tyrolean winery Pacherhof is a wonderful expression of the Eisack Valley region. Italy's northernmost wine region has, for some years now, established itself as one of the absolute most interesting areas for producing white wines with international grape varieties from northern Europe. Riesling, in particular, has acclimatized well to the rocky soils, cold climate, and wide temperature ranges of the altitude, giving wines that perfectly reflect the Alpine habitat. Fresh, aromatically delicate and elegant, it is an intense and mineral mountain white that pairs very well with shellfish, seafood, delicately spiced dishes of Asian cuisine and delicate white meats.
Riesling wine originates on the Maso Pacher estate, a historic property in the area that dates back to the 12th century. The Huber family has cultivated this land for many generations, and today the management of the vineyards and winery is in the hands of Andreas, a talented winemaker who produces excellent wines with a distinctly territorial character. The Riesling vineyards are located in the beautiful Novacella area on sunny, steep slopes overlooking the Bressanone basin at an elevation of about 650 meters above sea level. The soils of ancient morainic origin consist of stony soils, rich in mycascists and gneiss, which are particularly suitable for Riesling. After manual harvesting, the grapes are softly pressed and slowly fermented in stainless steel tanks at a low temperature. The wine matures on the lees for about 8 months in large 20-hectoliter oak barrels before being bottled for release.
The white Riesling is one of the most representative labels of the Pacherhof winery. A magnificent interpreter of the Isarco Valley terroir, it is a wine of great finesse and personality, all played out on the delicate facets of the noble northern grape variety. In the glass, it is straw yellow in colour with youthful greenish highlights. Refined and elegant, it expresses a bouquet characterized by scents of acacia flowers, clear notes of lime zest, and fragrant aromas of citrus, white peach, green apple and Williams pear. The palate is taut and savoury, with delicate, harmonious fruit, leading toward a closure of vibrant mineral freshness. Great to drink young, this is a white that reaches full expressive maturity after several years of bottle ageing.
