The Riesling "Era Ora" of the famous Piedmontese winery Borgogno is a fresh and agile white wine, perfect with spicy fish and vegetable dishes. It is made from carefully selected, pure grapes of the same name and ages for about 12 months in steel tanks and 2 months in bottle. The color is straw yellow with brilliant reflections, while the nose perceives floral and fruity aromas. The sip is fresh, lively, crisp and balanced
Langhe Riesling 'Era Ora' is a white wine of soaring freshness, the first ever produced by the historic Piedmontese winery Borgogno in 2012. Since 2019, the estate's entire production has been certified organic, and of the just over 40 hectares of vines owned, 1.5 is dedicated to Rhine Riesling, a semi-aromatic variety with unmistakable characteristics. In particular, the grapes destined for this bottle come from the Bricco Bombè vineyard, located in the small hamlet of Madonna di Como, in Alba.
Borgogno Riesling Langhe 'Era Ora' is made exclusively from Riesling Renano grapes grown on limestone-clay soils at an altitude of 500 metres. Once the berries have reached the ideal degree of ripeness, the grapes are harvested by hand followed by about 3 days of cold skin contact maceration. After gentle pressing, the must is left in static decantation in stainless steel tanks, the same containers in which temperature-controlled spontaneous alcoholic fermentation takes place. Maturation continues for 12 months in stainless steel, 6 months of which are spent on the fine lees. Finally, after a further 2 months of bottle ageing, the wine is ready for marketing.
Borgogno's Langhe Riesling 'Era Ora' has a straw-yellow colour with greenish hues. The olfactory panorama is broad and distinctive in its hints of fruit and yellow flowers, aromatic herbs, grapefruit and lime, combined with mineral puffs that with time turn towards typical hydrocarbon notes. Very vertical and crisp on the palate, with a lively freshness and fine savoury vein guiding the long mineral and citrus epilogue. A typical characteristic of the Rhine Riesling is its incredible longevity, which is why the Langhe 'Era Ora' can easily rest for many years in the cellar.
