Pinotage from Aaldering is a red wine with great territorial character. It is produced from the grape variety of the same name, which has been particularly successful in South Africa due to its adaptability to the climate and soils of the Stellenbosch region. It is an intense and rich wine, warm and enveloping, characterised by a great fruit ripeness and a pleasant smoothness. It expresses above all aromas of ripe red fruit and nuances of jam. The long ageing in wood gives the wine a typically international profile, with elegant tertiary notes.

Pinotage wine is a South African speciality, which Aaldering Vineyards & Wines produces in a particularly prestigious version. It originates from a grape variety grown almost exclusively in South Africa, which was created by Abraham Perold in 1925 at the University of Stellenbosch. It is an original cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault, a red berry grape from the south of France, characterised by a good amount of red fruit. Its rather early ripening and fruity richness soon made it a success, so much so that it became the flagship grape of South African viticulture. The Pinotage vines are cultivated in Devon Valley, at an altitude of about 150 metres above sea level, with a south-eastern exposure. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel vats.Before bottling, the wine rests for a period of two years in oak barrels, 40 % new.
