"Il Nocio" from Boscarelli is a monument to the Nobile di Montepulciano: a robust and important wine with great body and character, vinified and aged for at least 18 months in barrel. Aromas of blueberries, underbrush, sweet and balsamic spices emerge from a broad and complex flavor profile. A great Tuscan wine for aging!
Boscarelli's Nobile di Montepulciano 'Il Nocio' is produced by one of the area's most historically rich wineries and is one of the most representative labels of this ancient Tuscan appellation. Intense and of great elegance, it sincerely and transparently expresses the best characteristics of a great terroir and excellent grapes. It is made from pure Sangiovese, known in this area as Prugnolo Gentile, which, by virtue of long ageing in noble woods, acquires an absolutely extraordinary complexity and depth of flavour, so much so that it is one of the most prestigious interpretations of the vine in the land of Tuscany. It is a bottle for connoisseurs, to be uncorked at a special dinner.
Il Nocio' is a Nobile di Montepulciano that the Boscarelli winery produces on its prestigious estate. The estate is located near the ancient Tuscan village at an altitude of about 300 metres above sea level, with a cool, east and north-east exposure. The climate is continental and temperate, with good variations between day and night temperatures. The soils are of ancient alluvial origin, with abundant sand, silt and clay and very rich in skeleton, well draining and suitable for viticulture. The 'Vigna del Nocio' is a true cru of the estate, which has always yielded grapes of superior quality. The grapes are selected directly in the vineyard and then sent to fermentation in oak vats with indigenous yeasts, with about ten days' maceration on the skins. The wine matures for a period of 18-24 months in Slavonian oak casks and is then refined in the bottle for a further 12 months before release.
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano "Il Nocio" Boscarelli combines an important structure with refined elegance, confirming the goodness of a terroir of great value and a savoir-faire inspired only by absolute excellence. To the eye it is ruby red in colour with garnet-coloured reflections. The aromatic palette is rich, with floral nuances, hints of medicinal herbs, undergrowth and leather, on a harmonious background of small red berries. Full-bodied, it brings out complex aromas and a dense but elegant tannic texture, giving the palate density and expressive depth. The finish is long, fresh and balanced.
