Ca' Viola's "Rangone" Nebbiolo is an elegant, fresh red wine with a flowing sip, produced from pure Nebbiolo by the cellar of oenologist Beppe Caviola. The delicate vinification and the use of only large barrels allow the varietal face of Nebbiolo to be preserved, with its floral characteristics and fragrant, fruity aromas. It is a label of great taste pleasure, which brings to the fore the youthful profile of the great Langhe grape variety, enhancing its ability to be paired with the classic dishes of Piedmontese cuisine.
The 'Rangone' Nebbiolo wine originates in the countryside of Montelupo Albese, a small village in the Langhe, where the famous oenologist Beppe Caviola founded his wine cellar in 1991. The classic varieties of the area are grown in the vineyards: Nebbiolo, Dolcetto and Barbera. His wines result from careful agronomic management and minimal work in the cellar. The Nebbiolo vineyard is located at about 450 metres above sea level and is characterised by soils composed of grey limestone marl and reddish-yellow sands. Fermentation occurs with indigenous yeasts and a submerged cap maceration on the skins for a couple of weeks. The wine matures in large oak casks for 15-17 months and is bottled without filtration.
Nebbiolo 'Rangone' Ca' Viola is a perfect wine to taste when you are in the mood for a good Nebbiolo without the structure and importance of a Barolo or Barbaresco. It has a bright and brilliant garnet red colour. The bouquet expresses flowery aromas of violets, dried rose petals, aromas of small red berries, cherries and delicate nuances of spices. The palate is medium-bodied with delicate fruit, a subtle tannic texture, a balanced finish and good freshness.
