Nebbiolo "Bartomé," from the famous Borgogno winery, is a tribute to the ancient tradition of the Langhe and its most noble and important grape variety. It is a label inspired by the history of the area, back in the days when Barolo wine had not yet been created, and red wines from the area were marketed simply by the name of the grape variety. Precisely in order to perpetuate this custom, the Bartolomeo estate parcel, located in the municipal territory of Barolo, was chosen so as to make a great red, capable of exalting first and foremost the varietal characteristics of the grape. A prestige label, which focuses on the fragrance of elegant fruity aromas and immediate taste pleasantness.
"Bartomé" is a Nebbiolo proposed by one of the historical names of Langhe wine. The Borgogno winery was created in the late 1700s and has been instrumental in establishing the great wines of Piedmont around the world. Always faithful to a classic and traditional style, it is still among the most representative wineries in the area. Nebbiolo grapes come from the Bartolomeo cru in Barolo, which is located at an altitude of 350 meters above sea level with a southeast-facing exposure. The soils consist of calcareous marls with abundant presence of sand. Manual harvesting takes place in late September and early October, and the grapes are destemmed and sent to spontaneous fermentation in concrete tanks, with maceration on the skins lasting a couple of weeks at a controlled temperature of 22-28 °C. The wine matures for one year in large Slavonian oak barrels.
Borgogno's red Nebbiolo "Bartomé" is a young and fresh version of the grape variety, aiming mainly at immediate consumption, while also having a good predisposition to aging. In the goblet it has a beautiful light ruby color with luminous reflections that turn to violet notes. The bouquet is of great varietal typicality, with floral scents of violet, aromas of morello cherry, red currant, and wild strawberry, enhanced by light spicy nuances. Harmonious and fragrant on the palate, it delivers a sip with rich, crisp fruit, wrapped in a dense but remarkably fine tannic texture. The finish is very fresh, lively and persistent.
