The Muller Thurgau of San Michele Appiano is the expression of one of the typical grape varieties of an area that, in recent years, has been able to express itself at levels of absolute quality in the field of viticulture, we are, of course, talking about Alto Adige. The vineyards for this wine are located in the wonderful setting of Alto Adige, more precisely in the areas of Campill, San Genesio and Graun near Cortaccia, at altitudes ranging from 600 to 900 meters (6,000 to 9,000 feet).
San Michele Appiano Muller Thurgau takes on body and vigour in soils composed mainly of limestone gravel and porphyry sediments. In order to be able to maintain a high quality of the final product, one must therefore be very careful throughout the entire process, starting with the care of the vineyard, it is therefore obvious that the harvest takes place only and exclusively by hand. Once the fruit is transferred to the cellar, it is vinified and aged inside steel containers so that the intrinsic characteristics of a grape variety with very broad aromaticity can be maintained intact.
The Muller Thurgau from San Michele Appiano once poured into the glass, is a vibrant straw yellow with greenish highlights. The nose, rich in fruity notes ranging from peach to lychee, is further enriched by hints of hay and the firm, intense spicy notes of nutmeg, capable of lending further depth to the already rich aromatic bouquet. On the palate, this wine is taut, the aromaticity that is an intrinsic and typical characteristic of Muller Thurgau manages to envelop the sip, supported by a fine savoriness and decisive freshness. With this interpretation, the winery in San Michele Appiano has succeeded in creating a faithful ambassador with a grape variety and a terroir that, together over the years, have contributed to the enthusiasm and love of so many wine lovers.
