Moscato d'Asti "Lumine" from the Ca' d'Gal winery is one of the great classics of Piedmontese tradition. This ancient white grape variety, widespread in all the countries of the Mediterranean area, has found on the hills of Asti a terroir of choice, where it expresses itself on excellent qualitative levels. This is the sparkling version, characterized by a delicate effervescence and a pleasantly harmonious taste, all played on the perfect balance between fruity sweetness and savoury freshness. These very characteristics, combined with low alcohol content, make it a perfect companion for fruit tarts and leavened desserts, especially pandoro, panettone and colomba.
"Lumine" is a Moscato d'Asti that originates in the Valdivilla area, where the Ca' d'Gal estate is based. The property covers about ten hectares, cultivated mainly with Moscato grapes. The range of wines offers a full range of the various declinations of this grape, all distinguished by a typically artisanal and territorial character. The wine is made from grapes from estate vineyards that are between 20 and 35 years old, and grown in a hilly, sunny and well-ventilated area. The climate is mild, and the soils are mainly limestone in nature, composed of ancient marine sedimentations. The clusters are soft-pressed, and they must ferment in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The second fermentation takes place in an autoclave and is stopped when the wine reaches 5 percent vol. so as to maintain a low alcohol content and important residual sugar.
Ca' d'Gal winery's Moscato d'Asti wine "Lumine" is an ambassador of Piedmont and Italy in the world. To the eye, it is light straw yellow in colour with brilliant reflections, enlivened by a subtle and very delicate effervescence. The bouquet is elegant and fragrant, with scents of orange blossom, white flowers, aromas of peach tobacco, pear, golden apple, hints of citrus and medicinal herbs. The palate entry is soft and persuasive, with a sip of generous, sweet and rich fruit, which finds the right expressive harmony thanks to a limpid vein of freshness accompanying a savoury closure.
