The Morellino di Scansano "Ribeo" is a medium-bodied red wine, smooth and deep, aged for 12 months in cement vats. The bouquet is intense, with notes of red fruit, spices and tobacco. The taste is juicy and pleasantly fresh, with well-balanced tannins
Morellino di Scansano 'Ribeo' is a label that stands out for its flowing and accessible drinkability, made by the Tuscan Roccapesta estate from a solid base of Sangiovese, the area's most important grape variety, flanked by a small percentage of Alicante. The name of the bottle refers precisely to the great enjoyability of this Morellino, so striking that a friend of the owner tasting it defined it as "a wine that goes straight to the heart, a wine that beo e ribeo", that is, that "I drink and drink again".
Roccapesta Morellino di Scansano 'Ribeo' derives from a blend of Sangiovese (93%) and Alicante (7%), vines grown on soils of mixed composition, generally rich in skeleton and clay, located between 200 and 270 metres above sea level. The average age of the vines is around 10 years and the harvest is carried out manually with careful selection of the bunches. In the cellar, the grapes are vinified in red in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, while the subsequent ageing phase takes place between cement vats and the bottle for a total period of 18 months.
Roccapesta's 'Ribeo' Morellino di Scansano expresses a luminous ruby red colour. The nose is deep in its intense hints of red fruits, spices and tobacco that blend with dark sensations of undergrowth. The sip, warm and soft, is distinguished by its juicy freshness and fine tannins, characteristics that underpin its excellent agility and smoothness of taste. By virtue of its balance and accessibility, Morellino di Scansano 'Ribeo' is a wine suitable for everyday drinking, which can be paired with earthy first courses, white meat main courses and medium-aged cheeses or cured meats.
