Antonelli San Marco's Montefalco Rosso is an intense and aromatically rich wine that well represents the historic winemaking vocation of the lands of Umbria. It is made from the classic blend of red grapes traditionally grown in the Montefalco area. An important base of Sangiovese is joined by the indigenous Sagrantino and Montepulciano, creating a harmonious and complex red that wins over with its extraordinary drinkability. Aging in large barrels, allows the wine to fully mature without losing the fragrace of the fruit and its expressive immediacy. It is a very pleasant wine to drink young, but also has a good aging potential.
Montefalco Rosso comes from one of the most famous wineries in the area. The Antonelli family has been cultivating vines in Montefalco for no less than five generations and today manages a vast estate of 170 hectares, 50 of which are devoted to vineyards and the rest to olive groves, woods and pastures. Agronomic management is organic and takes place within an unspoiled environmental context rich in biodiversity. The vineyards are planted with the classic grape varieties of the area, particularly Sagrantino, Sangiovese, Grechetto and Trebbiano Spoletino. Great attention to the vineyard is followed by work in the cellar geared to minimal intervention, with delicate winemaking that aims above all to bring varietal notes to the fore. Antonelli San Marco's style is characterized by a search for elegance and finesse and an adherence to the authenticity of the terroir.
Rosso di Montefalco from the famous Umbrian winery Antonelli San Marco is a wine with an extraordinary gastronomic vocation. Thanks to its ductility, it pairs well with rich and flavorful first courses of Umbrian tradition, especially with meat or game sauces, roasts or barbecued meats. Sangiovese, Sagrantino and Montepulciano grapes are fermented in steel tanks with maceration on the skins for 2 to 3 weeks. The wine rests for 12 months in large oak barrels and another 6 months in cement tanks before bottling. It has an intense and bright red color. The nose recalls aromas of ripe red fruit, black cherry, hints of underbrush and delicate spices. The palate has good body and intensity, with fine tannins and a sip characterized by a pleasant fruity fragrance. The finish is pleasantly fresh with good flavor persistence.
