Miglioré', as its name suggests, is one of the most prestigious labels from the Tuscan winery Vallepicciola. It is a wine that is the result of a perfect synthesis between the Chianti terroir and some of the most important international grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Even in the choices of vinification and ageing, the inspiration from the great models of Bordeaux reds shines through. The use of long ageing in wood gives it a soft profile and considerable aromatic complexity. A great wine for those who enjoy a persuasive and rich sip, suitable for pairing with roast red meats or spit-roasted game.
Vallepicciola's 'Miglioré' red wine comes from an estate located near Castelnuovo Berardenga, in one of the most famous areas of Chianti Classico. The property covers 265 hectares, 65 of which are vineyards. In addition to Sangiovese, numerous international varieties have also been planted that have adapted very well to the soil and climatic conditions of the area. The Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot grapes come from vineyards located in Pievasciata, Castelnuovo Berardenga, at an altitude of between 370 and 430 metres above sea level, on calcareous-clayey soils, very rich in marl and alberese, which make them stony, poor and well-drained. Harvesting is carried out by hand and begins at the end of August and ends in mid-September. Each variety is vinified separately, with fermentation in cement tanks at a controlled temperature of 23 °C and maceration on the skins for about four weeks. The wine matures for 24 months in French oak barrels, 70% new.
Vallepicciola's 'Miglioré' wine is distinguished by its typically international profile despite the fact that it originates in the heart of the Chianti region. The Cabernet Sauvignon lends structure and elegance, the Cabernet Franc freshness and the Merlot a rich and harmonious fruitiness. The wine is dark ruby red in colour with luminous reflections. The bouquet expresses floral aromas of violets, aromas of blackcurrants, blueberries, blackberries, cherries, hints of undergrowth, spices and herbs. Soft and enveloping, it has a ripe tannic texture and dense, rich aromas that stretch towards a very persistent finish.
