Morella's Mezzanotte is a medium-bodied red wine from grapes Primitivo, vinified with its own yeasts in old oak barrels. Aromas of ripe red fruit, with intense peppery and floral tones recall a sip of good freshness and elegance, enhanced by extraordinary tannin
Morella's Mezzanotte is a primitivo that exudes territoriality from every pore, capable of combining textural richness with a timely contribution of freshness. That's right because, in spite of its heavyweight structure, this red bottled by the now well-known Manduria winery succeeds in the feat of maintaining rhythm and drinkability, as do the other liquids bottled by Lisa Gilbee, the Australian winemaker who has led this splendid reality since 1992. 16 hectares of vineyard obviously dedicated to the local prince or Primitivo, for which Lisa has undertaken with patience and steadfastness the recovery of the old bush-trained vines, less productive and vigorous but capable of giving life to wines with an unmistakable texture. In the vineyard, they work with the utmost respect for the environment and plants, using biodynamic preparations instead of chemicals and the result, beyond the numerous awards received, speaks of wines capable of telling a terroir after often mistreated, elevating it. Beacon Light.
The Mezzanotte red is made from pure Primitivo grapes from vines over 40 years old located close to the Ionian Sea that have their roots in calcareous matrix soils. In the vineyard, as already mentioned, the use of any chemical or synthetic substance is eschewed, helping only with copper, sulfur and biodynamic preparations. In the cellar, spontaneous alcoholic fermentations in tonneaux and ageing for 10 months in oak barrels are continued without the liquid undergoing filtrations or clarifications.
The Mezzanotte wine presents itself in the glass with an intense and luminous ruby robe. Intense and varied olfactory impact, marked by notes of carob, dehydrated plum, liquorice and black pepper, drawing an extremely pulsating and territorial profile. The sip is obviously sunny and filling, capable of lining the palate with its persuasive tactility while not forgoing tannic friction that acts as a metronome. Heat.
