The Merlot "Vianina900" is a red wine of good intensity, born from 70-year-old vines grown on the Euganean Hills of Veneto. It is fermented with its indigenous yeasts and aged for 12 months in barrique. The aromatic set of red fruit with vanilla flavors recalls a sip of good softness and enveloping, with a well balanced alcohol content and a well-polished tannin.

Alla Costiera's Merlot 'Vianina900' is an extremely complete everyday red, an admirable synthesis of fruitiness, sincere drinkability and persuasive tactility. Although the Colli Euganei area is undoubtedly best known for the production of sparkling wines such as Prosecco, it should not be forgotten that it is precisely south-west of Padua that some of the so-called international red grape varieties such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon give rise to some of the most interesting Italian expressions, which manage to combine elegance, freshness and depth as in the best examples from beyond the Alps. It is here that Filippo Gamba, founder of Alla Costiera, operates, a small business that has now become a point of reference for wine enthusiasts by virtue of its deeply territorial liquids and centred value for money. Today, the winery is run according to the dictates of biodynamics, valorising both the main grape variety of the place, namely Glera, and others that although not indigenous have become an integral part of the tradition such as Merlot, Carmenere and Moscato. For those in search of everyday wines with depth and personality, this is a name to absolutely mark in your diary.
The red Merlot 'Vianina900' is made from pure Merlot grapes from vines over 70 years old located on the western side of the Euganean Hills on calcareous and clayey soils. In the vineyard, as already mentioned, no chemical or synthetic substances are used, operating according to the principles of Steinerian biodynamics. In the cellar, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation and 20-30 days' maceration on the skins is followed by ageing for 12 months in barriques and 12 months in bottles.
The 'Vianina 900' Merlot presents itself in the glass with the classic ruby red colour with purple reflections. The bouquet is rich and varied, with hints ranging from plum to tomato leaf, from toasted notes to undergrowth. Velvety tactility on the palate, which in spite of a comforting softness is enlivened by a remarkable freshness. A finish of just the right persistence, for an almost unbeatably priced everyday wine.
