Luberon Rouge is a fresh and generous red wine that comes from a blend of Grenache and Syrah. It ages for a year in steel and concrete, expressing aromas of black currant, blueberry and hints of pepper. On the palate it is soft, round and pleasantly structured, with a clear freshness and excellent tannins
The Luberon Rouge of Domaine de Fontenille is a French wine from one of the best-known and traditionally most vocated areas in France to produce authentic, quality wine. The Rhone Valley is a natural reserve of extreme beauty and enormous wine-growing potential, a potential that is recognised and exploited to the full by this winery that has been working the land for decades and producing a wine that knows how to enchant the palate. Over time, significant changes have been made to the materials and tools used for vinification: rows of stainless steel vats and second-hand wooden barrels arranged in a semicircle in the cellar to achieve excellent results.
The Grenanche and Syrah grapes in Domaine de Fontenille's Luberon Rouge grow at the foot of Mount Luberon on predominantly clay and limestone soils; the climate is continental with hot, sultry summers and cold winters with sporadic snowfall and spring frosts. The vineyards' exposure is excellent: as they are located to the south at the foot of the mountain, they receive constant sunlight for complete ripening, and the mountain protects the rows from undesirable cold winds that are harmful to the vines. The dictates of organic farming are followed. The grapes are harvested by hand, and alcoholic and malolactic fermentation occurs in the cement cellar. It matures 12 months in steel and cement before being bottled.
To the eye, the Luberon Rouge from Domaine de Fontenille is an intense ruby red with brilliant reflections. The bouquet of aromas is reminiscent of juicy blackberries and various spices; in the mouth, it is full-bodied with character, enveloping and with a pleasant final persistence for an interesting drink. In pairing, it is recommended with grilled and stewed red meats and vegetarian dishes; curious with mature cheeses. An excellent product to enjoy with friends at cheerful summer barbecues, savouring in the glass a genuine, authentic and promising wine, thanks to the careful work of its producers.
