The "Vidonia" of the winery Suertes del Maruqes is a white wine made with Palomino grapes, born in the famous area of Orotava in the Canary Islands. The grape variety that is locally called Listan Blanco is fermented thanks to indigenous yeasts, and then transferred to French oak barrels for 10 months. It is a hearty wine that flows on the palate, with intense notes of banana and yeast and a lingering smoky finish

"Vidonia" from Suertes del Marques is a pure Listan Blanco from important estate plots and which Jonatan Garcia Lima's bodega vinifies within its range of Vinos de Parcela, the most typically territorial creations. This is a typical variety of the island of Tenerife, but one that can easily be encountered in different parts of the Iberian Peninsula and that is known with the more familiar name of Palomino Fino, for example, in Jerez. The name on the label harkens back to the history of the 17th century, the heyday of the Canary Islands wine trade, when the term Vidonia generically denoted white wines produced in northern Tenerife that were regularly exported to the United Kingdom and the West Indies.
Listan Bianco "Vidonia" is made by Suerte del Marques as an interpretation of three different parcels located in the central and eastern parts of the Orotava Valley, along the northern slopes of the Teide volcano, the highest peak in all of Spain. El Barranco, La Solana, and El Ciruelo are vineyards located at altitudes between 350 and 520 meters above sea level, in which old, ungrafted Listan Blanco vines are grown that have reached ages ranging from 60 to 120 years. The training system is an original braided cordon, a method used only in Tenerife: the plants extend their branches parallel to the ground and in the direction of the valley, without having to rise very high, building their own defense against the wind. The soil is essentially volcanic and has a thin clay cover. Harvesting is done manually between the end of August and the end of September, and the grapes are destemmed in the cellar to be started in a spontaneous fermentation with only indigenous yeasts, in 500-liter oak barrels; malo-lactic fermentation is carried out only partially, in the same containers. The aging period is completed in 25-hectoliter French oak foudre for 10 months.
"Vidonia" from bodega Suerte del Marques presents a beautiful bright golden yellow color. The aromas impact with great freshness and harmony: floral notes from which chamomile emerges together with vegetal and spicy nuances, such as fennel, anise, ginger. Elegant, with aromatic sensation of sandalwood and a mineral closure of flint. On the palate it has a rich saline streak, but it's substancial at the same time and with a lively freshness that incites drinking. A white for fish in all its versions: fried food, risotto, pasta, hot appetizers.
