Cantina Terlano's Lagrein Rosato is a product of a winery that traces its roots back to the late 19th century. The project was born thanks to the courage and cohesion of local winemakers who shared a passion and a desire to enhance their land and its intrinsic characteristics. Shunning the hegemony of the large landowners of the time, they were inspired by the example of the Rhineland, planting and cultivating grape varieties typical of Germany and France, along with those already historically present. Today the winery has more than 140 members and 190 hectares of land fully planted with vines; the goal has always remained that of preserving the quality of the final product, reaching, thus, international markets.
The pure Lagrein grapes in Cantina Terlano's Lagrein Rosato grow at altitudes between 250 and 280 meters above sea level. Temperatures are made mild by the presence of the southern foothills of the Alps, which block access to cold air currents from the north; important are the temperature fluctuations between day and night, which ensure excellent ripening of the grapes between the rows. Solar radiation is present for much of the year, thanks in part to the fact that the vineyards are oriented to the south and southwest. Harvesting is by hand and tends to take place in early September; a short maceration on the red berry skins occurs in the cellar, which ensures the typical rosé colour. It ferments in steel and ages 5-7 months on the lees.
The colour of Cantina Terlano's Lagrein Rosato is a deep salmon pink with bright highlights. On the nose, there are hints of raspberry, strawberry and currant with hints of black cherry and violet and rose on the finish; on the palate, it is elegant and enveloping with a freshness on the finish that balances the structure. In pairing, it is recommended with shellfish and shellfish dishes, raw fish tartare and sushi; also interesting with fresh cow's milk cheeses. An excellent product for accompanying romantic dinners by the sea during the summer or for picnics in the open air, sipping a wine that is the result of constant and consistent work over time.
