Guidalberto is a red wine elegant and intense, born from the desire to produce a younger wine than Sassicaia, also using Merlot grapes. After aging for 15 months in barrique, it expresses itself in a bouquet of berries, coffee, spices and Mediterranean scrub. The sip is fruity, full, solid and persistent. A magnum that reflects the soul of Tenuta San Guido!
Guidalberto Magnum Tenuta San Guido can be regarded as Sassicaia's little brother, not because of lower quality but because of a different drinkability from the Bolgheri winery's flagship wine. Guidalberto, named after Nicolò della Gherardesca's four-grandfather, has led the estate for decades. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes in pure Bordeaux style, this wine saw its first bottle born in 2000.
Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto Magnum sees its vineyards insist on soils rich in marl, limestone and clay at an altitude between 100 and 300 meters above sea level. The harvest, performed manually, begins with Merlot in late August, continuing in September with Cabernet Sauvignon. In the cellar, sorting and selection of the best berries are carried out, followed by soft pressing and destemming of the grapes. Fermentation, which takes place without the addition of external yeasts, is activated inside steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 26 and 28°C. After a maceration of about 10 days for the Merlot and 11-14 for the Cabernet Sauvignon, frequent pumping over of the musts is carried out, which are then poured into French and American barriques for 15 months.
A brilliant ruby red is the signature of Guibalberto Tenuta San Guido, a wine that expresses an airtight youthfulness. Brought to the nose, the fullness of Merlot fruit immediately strikes and intoxicates the spirit, which is further invigorated by notes of coffee and remnants of Mediterranean scrub. As soon as one sip, one is struck by the tannic power of this wine, which is not rough me is firm and tenaciously persistent. Guidalberto is the emblem of an area that lies on the Tuscan hills but enjoys the influence of the Tyrrhenian Sea, a wine that is the ideal groom for the area's gastronomy, where strong and decisive flavours need a sip of imperial vigour. A unique magnum for great events!
