Greco di Tufo "Ponte dei Santi" is one of the most prestigious white wines among the ones produced by the Irpinian winery Villa Raiano. This ancient native Campania grape variety is capable of giving wines of remarkable structure and complexity, also endowed with extraordinary freshness and longevity. Its fruity, citrusy, deep and rich aromas captivate from the first sip and possess persistence, allowing important pairings with baked fish, fish in sauce, baccala or with delicate white meats. It is a label dedicated to those who love and appreciate structured wines, capable of evolving over time developing an aromatic palette with refined tertiary notes.
"Ponte dei Santi" is a Greco di Tufo from one of the reference wineries in the Irpinia area. Villa Raiano was created in 1996 and currently manages 27 hectares, in an environmental context rich in biodiversity, thanks to large areas of woods. The Greco vineyards at the base of this label, are located in the hamlet of Ponte dei Santi in the municipality of Altavilla Irpina, at an altitude of 550 meters above sea level. The cool, breezy climate, continental in character, and soils composed of silt, sand and crisscrossed with clay veins, are very suitable for the native white grapes, which have dwelled in this land for millennia and whose origins perhaps date back to the time of the first Greek colonization of Campania. The clusters are gently crushed and the flowering must ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Aging takes place in steel tanks on the fine lees for one year and is completed with an additional year in the bottle.
Villa Raiano's Greco di Tufo "Ponte dei Santi" is an excellent version of this great white from our south. Now joined with full merit in the elite of the denomination's reference bottles, it is an absolutely indispensable taste experience for those who want to know the authentic face of the grape variety. Yellow in color with bright golden hues, it expresses a bouquet characterized by scents of wild flowers, broom, chamomile, aromas of yellow-fleshed fruit, hints of dried fruit and flint. With good structure and aromatic density, it stretches out on the palate with a long, complex sip that accompanies a lingering finish of lively freshness.
