The Gattinara "Osso San Grato" is a symbol of Piedmont, one of the highest expressions of Garttinara, a robust and complex red wine aged in oak barrels for 36 months. It has a broad bouquet with notes of flowers, fruit, woody spices and roots. The palate reveals structure and elegance, body and finesse in a masterful balance
Antoniolo's Gattinara Riserva "Osso San Grato" is a product that best represents the tradition of Piedmontese wine production. The Antoniolo family has been able to exalt and enhance the intrinsic characteristics of both the land and the native grape varieties of this area, dedicating itself to the world of wine production since 1948. Mario Antoniolo put his knowledge and experience learned in the field over time to good use, passing it on to his daughter Rossana, who took over the running of the family business in the early 1980s, bringing with her air of innovation. Today, it is the grandchildren Alberto and Lorella who continue the work of grandfather Mario, seeking to apply methods that respect the ecosystem and are minimally invasive, letting nature and the fruits it bestows express themselves to the fullest.
The vineyards of Antoniolo's Gattinara Riserva "Osso San Grato" are between 35 and 40 years old with total southern exposure, a condition that guarantees good sunshine between the rows for much of the year; the soil is of morainic-vulcanic origin with the presence of porphyry, ideal for a structured final product with character. The climate has cold winters, often affected by snowfall and sudden frosts, and hot, sultry summers, often with high humidity rates. The grapes are harvested by hand, and traditional, non-invasive methods are favoured in the winery: alcoholic fermentation takes place thanks to the action of indigenous livestock for about 16 days, followed by an ageing period of between 18 and 30 months.
The colour of Antoniolo's Gattinara Riserva "Osso San Grato" is a ruby red with hints tending toward garnet. The nose reveals aromas of wild berries, rose, wild violet and slate; in the mouth, on the other hand, it is rich, enveloping and elegant with well-integrated tannins and a final freshness that entices glass after glass. In pairing, it is ideal with dishes of red meat cuts typical of Piedmontese tradition, game and pasta filled with meat; also perfect with aged and blue cheeses. Excellent to accompany snowy evenings in front of the fireplace, popping pops in the company of stimulating reading.
