Manditocai Livon represents the best expression of Friulano from the Livon winery, one of Friuli's best-known and most widespread names outside the regional borders. The excellence of Manditocai can be attributed to the historic vineyard of the same name from which the grapes come: planted on soil composed of marl and clay in Ruttars, in the municipality of Dolegna del Collio, it boasts 40-year-old vines, trained by spurred cordon and guyot.
The Manditocai production process involves manual harvesting and selection of grapes, the whole cluster pressing achieved by a slow and gradual increase of pressure, without press rotations. The must is then harvested and divided between Hungarian oak barriques and stainless steel tanks. After vinification, the wine ages for 8 months in fine wood barriques, which imparts a very slight toasty note to the wine.
Manditocai Livon is a wine of incredible finesse, savoury and fresh, with a good and elegant structure. Its aromas evoke peach leaves and nutmeg, while on the palate, it is smooth and pleasant, with a characteristic bitter almond aftertaste that envelops the senses and gives very pleasant mineral and toasted sensations.
