Franciacorta 'Prima Cuvée' Brut stands as the business card of the Monte Rossa winery, the sparkling wine that introduces the refined style of this renowned Lombard estate. The Monte Rossa sparkling wine house was founded in 1972 by Paolo Rabotti and has been run by his son Emanuele since 1992, who has introduced important innovations from a technological point of view over the years, constantly raising the quality of production. The 'Prima Cuvée' comes from a blend of grapes grown in 19 crus scattered in 10 different communes in the Franciacorta area.
Monte Rossa Franciacorta Brut 'Prima Cuvée' consists of a solid base of Chardonnay to which is added 10% Pinot Noir and 5% Pinot Blanc. The vines are trained by spurred cordon and guyot on hilly soils of morainic origin. After manual harvesting, the grapes are soft-pressed and each cru is vinified separately. The musts then undergo alcoholic fermentation partly in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and partly in oak barrels, and, following a short period of maturation, the masses are blended and 20% reserve wine is added before the second fermentation in the bottle in accordance with the Metodo Classico. At the end of aging on the lees in glass, which lasts for at least 24 months, the wine is finally subjected to disgorgement and Brut dosage.
Monte Rossa's Franciacorta Brut 'Prima Cuvée' possesses a bright straw yellow color with subtle and persistent effervescence. The nose unfolds on hints of butter and ripe fruit, followed by pleasant floral and bakery notes. Delicate and elegant on the palate, with a lively freshness that drives the lingering finish on the sensations on the nose.
