'EDDA' SAN MARZANO 2022 DESCRIPTION

The Edda by Cantine San Marzano manages to combine the typical freshness of white wines with the special traits of density and sunniness that distinguish this wine. Opulence and a velvety taste make the identity of this white blend recognisable, strongly expressive of the soul of its land of origin, the wonderful Salento. Enclosed between the Ionian and Adriatic seas, this strip of land, refreshed by the Scirocco winds, is sunny and expansive, just like the wine that flows from it. That is why the winemakers who make up the Cantine San Marzano group have decided to let this white express all its intense vitality, heralding joyful and energetic emotions. The vines, still grown in the traditional bush-trained form, are a symbol of a winegrowing tradition rich in history to tell. "Edda Bianco" is ready to tell it, sip after sip.

Cantine San Marzano "Edda" is composed of a blend of mainly Chardonnay with a small balance of other local white grapes. The vineyards where the grapes come from are located in the San Marzano area, in the Puglia region of Salento, at an altitude of about 100 meters above sea level. Here, the climate has a good temperature range between day and night, and the soils are shallow, with a texture ranging from medium to fine. After harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and left in cryomaceration (i.e., cold maceration) for a few hours. This is followed by soft pressing and a cold settling. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in French oak barriques, as does the 4-month ageing process in the presence of its own yeasts.

The white wine "Edda" appears visually with a straw yellow colour enhanced by golden reflections. The aroma shows ripe fruity notes of peach and citrus, with soft hints of vanilla. On the palate, it is characterised by an elegant opulence, punctuated by a enveloping softness and full-bodiedness. A territorial marine salinity gives it a flowing drinkability. "Edda Bianco" knows how to be elegant and exuberant, soft and fresh, warm and drinkable, just like its native homeland, rich in facets and vivid colours.
